Puddles at Eddyville Train Station

IMG_7240

11 x 14 on Saunders Waterford 140# paper, painted with American Journey pigments from Cheap Joe’s.

This watercolor was inspired by a painting done by Frank Eber.

My Grandma Violet was born in Eddyville, Nebraska.  She often told stories about her childhood.  The train coming to town was a big deal in the early 1900’s. After rain storms she would jump in puddles near the train tracks.  The Platte River was nearby and she would float across the river with her brothers on an old box spring  mattress  made into a raft to get to school.
